Everything happens for a reason but these unfortunate events piled up for me this year. Actually it's been two and a half years that I've been living a series of unfortunate events and having long months of waiting, continuous obstacles and challenges, and feeling like something is holding me back from moving forward. Honestly, I feel like I am stuck in a video game that has only 'hard' or 'extremely hard' as a difficulty level.
As the last unfortunate event of the year, I've got some seasonal allergies last week which is normal because I get allergies ALL THE TIME, but I couldn't breathe or hear after a week of dealing with it. I went to ER, and it turns out that my lovely allergies turned into a sinus and an ear infection. 5 days with allergies and 5 days of healing from the infection, I watched my week basically going to waste. Let's not say it was a total waste because I've found the opportunity to do things I couldn't do before, like making gingerbread men cookies :)
I feel like new year is going to be a lot different for me. These incredible obstacles, roadblocks, and difficult tests made me developed the strength to deal with them.
I have learned my lesson, and I am ready for the next chapter of my life with less difficulty, please!
Leaving my favorite quote below. This literally sums up my situation after two and a half years.
“And once the storm is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won't be the same person who walked in. That's what this storm's all about.”
― Haruki Murakami.

Let's go back to making gingerbread men cookies. I started doing them the day before I went to ER so KUDOS to me!

I used a recipe from here. It's vegan and gluten-free.

Here's an interesting, historical fact about the gingerbread men shaped cookies: They were eaten a lot during The English Renaissance period by the Queen Elizabeth I but she wasn’t the only person eating gingerbread men.

Also during that time period, they were used by folk-medicine practitioners, often described as witches or magicians who would create them as love tokens for young women.
“If they could get the man of their choice to eat the gingerbread man that had been made for them, the idea was the man would then fall in love with the young woman.” (excerpt from an article)
Maybe I should try the same, ha!

Sadly, I burned the first batch.

The other three batches turned out pretty well. Timing is important, guys!

Decorating was fun but also a difficult one. I kept it really minimalistic.

Can you see they all have kind of different faces? Pretty hilarious.
A LITTLE BONUS: *sound on*
